Evelyn Calip and Dr Michael Newman’s Breast Friends Forever Campaign Turned Up The Heat In LA For Its Annual Run

LOS ANGELES – Last week, “Hollywood’s Best” leading plastic surgeon, Dr Michael K. Newman and friends turned up the heat even more at Dockweiler Beach. It was a show of force for breast cancer survivors as donors and supporters gathered for Evelyn Calip’s annual Breast Friends Forever BRA run.

 

1000 participants for the event were encouraged to wear decorative bras for the BRA RUN ( which stands for Breast Reconstruction Awareness) which is intended to increase people’s knowledge regarding breast reconstruction options after breast cancer treatment.

The BRA walk/run began in 2013 during the five-year cancerversary for Evelyn, who founded the organization. This event symbolizes the importance of having access to breast reconstruction. Women, men, and pets were sporting various outfits and bras for the event with awards not only for completing the race but also for best costumes. Sponsors also included medical groups as well as fitness-focused companies, other activities included a 5k walk/run as well as a 14k run and a 14-mile bike ride to highlight 14 years of Evelyn being cancer free.

According to Dr Newman who also serves as the Medical Director of Evelyn’s BFF, “The event was a great way to bring together those currently undergoing breast cancer treatment, breast cancer survivors, families, and athletes in a healthy stimulating setting.  It was also a great way to celebrate being cancer free!
 Evelyn’s Breast Friends Forever Organization provides emotional and financial support for patients and families going through breast cancer treatment and breast reconstruction.  The initiative’s goal is to give positive experiences to breast cancer patients and their loved ones in the form of social events, fundraisers, and celebrations.  These gatherings provide an opportunity for breast cancer patients undergoing treatment and survivors to share information and experiences in a positive and casual way, without the formal structure of a support group.  In addition, the charity organization provides financial aid to patients undergoing breast cancer treatment and reconstruction that are uninsured or underinsured.
